Our commitment is simple: we don't collect your data. Hit Rec Notes is designed with privacy at its core. The app runs locally on your computer, requires no account registration, and sends no information to our servers—because we don't have servers that receive your data.

We collect nothing.

Hit Rec Notes does not:

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively on your computer and never leaves your device (except audio sent to OpenAI for transcription):

• API Key: Your OpenAI API key, encrypted using your operating system's secure credential storage
• Application Settings: Your preferences and configuration options
• Transcription History: Any transcriptions you choose to save

This data remains on your device. We have no access to it, cannot retrieve it, and never see it.

Information Third Parties Collect

OpenAI

When you use Hit Rec Notes to transcribe audio, your audio is sent directly from your device to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. This is necessary to convert your speech to text.

What OpenAI receives:

• Your audio recordings (sent directly from your device)
• Your API key (to authenticate the request)

What we want you to know:

• Audio is sent directly from your device to OpenAI—it does not pass through our servers
• You use your own OpenAI API key, establishing a direct relationship between you and OpenAI
• We have no control over how OpenAI processes, stores, or handles your audio data
• OpenAI's handling of your data is governed by their privacy policy

Your use of your own API key means your data relationship is directly with OpenAI, not with us.

How We Use Information

We don't use any information because we don't have access to any information.

All data processing happens locally on your device or directly between your device and OpenAI. We are not involved in data processing in any way.

Your API key is protected using industry-standard, operating system-level encryption:

• Windows: Windows Credential Vault (DPAPI)

What We Don't Have

• No cloud storage of your data
• No cloud sync features
• No backup servers
• No database of user information
• No servers that receive your data

All your data stays on your device, under your control.

Data Sharing

We don't share your data because we don't have your data.

The only data transmission that occurs is:

• Audio sent directly from your device to OpenAI for transcription

This transmission is initiated by you, uses your API key, and goes directly to OpenAI without passing through any systems we operate.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data because it all resides on your device:

Delete Everything

Uninstalling Hit Rec Notes removes all application data from your device.

Delete Specific Data

Use the app's settings to clear:

• Your stored API key
• Transcription history
• Application preferences

GDPR, CCPA, and Similar Regulations

Because we don't collect or store any personal data:

• There is no data to request from us
• There is no data for us to delete
• You already have all your data—it's on your device

Children's Privacy

Hit Rec Notes is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13—in fact, we don't collect information from anyone.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this application, please note that:

• No data was sent to us
• Any data created by the app exists only on the device where it was installed
• Audio sent to OpenAI for transcription is governed by OpenAI's privacy policy

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Since we don't collect email addresses or any contact information, we cannot notify you directly of changes. Significant changes will be noted in application release notes.
